Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners of Bega Valley Shire

I would like to commence by acknowledging, on behalf of Bega Valley Shire Council the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters of the Shire – the people of Yuin nation and show our respect to elders past and present.

Non Pecuniary Interest

Cr Seckold declared non pecuniary interest regarding Item 3.1 Safe Schools Coalition Australia (SCCA) on the basis that her daughter is employed as a strategic policy maker for the Federal Department of Education at present working on the SSCA.  A signed declaration form was tabled by Cr Seckold for inclusion in the Register, noting Cr Seckold will remain in the meeting room, and take part in the debate and voting.

Non Pecuniary Interest

Cr Seckold declared non pecuniary interest regarding Item 3.1 Safe Schools Coalition Australia (SCCA) on the basis that her daughter is employed as a strategic policy maker for the Federal Department of Education at present working on the SSCA.  A signed declaration form was tabled by Cr Seckold for inclusion in the Register, noting Cr Seckold will remain in the meeting room, and take part in the debate and voting.

A rescission motion was moved by Crs Fitzpatrick, Nadin and Allen

That item 18.2 Notice of Motion Safe Schools Coalition Australia as resolved at the meeting on 14 December 2016 be rescinded.

The motion was put to the vote and it was CARRIED

In favour:             Crs Fitzpatrick, Bain, Nadin, McBain, Tapscott and Allen

Against:                  Crs Griff, Seckold and Dodd

 

A motion was moved by Crs McBain and Tapscott

1.         That Council note the demise of funding for the Safe Schools Program in 2017 and write to the Federal Government supporting the retention of a program and requesting continued funding for that school education program aimed at anti bullying measures and support programs for young people, especially those identifying as LGBTQI.

2.         That Council write to the NSW State Government requesting it funds a school education program aimed at anti bullying measures and support programs for young people, in the event that the Federal Government does not fund it.  

09:36 am      Cr Bain left the meeting room.

09.36 am      The General Manager left the meeting room.

09.37 am      The General Manager returned to the meeting room

The motion was put to the vote and it was CARRIED on the casting vote of the Mayor

RESOLVED on the motion of Crs McBain and Tapscott

EOI 104/16 142-144 Imlay St. Eden Purchase, restoration and other conditions of sale

 

A rescission motion was moved by Crs Fitzpatrick and Allen

That Item 22.3 (Item 11.6 deferred from the Ordinary Meeting) EOI 104/16 142-144 Imlay Street. Eden Purchase, restoration and other conditions of sale be rescinded

Cr Fitzpatrick moved a motion that the matter be heard in open Council. 

As no motion was put for deferment to the Closed Session the matter proceeded in the open Council Meeting.

10.00 am      Cr Bain returned to the meeting room.

 

The rescission motion was put to the vote and it was LOST
