The purchase of this block of land will enable the rebuild of the Kiah Hall is vitality important to the Kiah Community. The block is an acre in size and along side the original of the Kiah Hall.  It will enable us to build on a flat piece of ground giving access to all sides of a new building.  It is a much better site for disable access.

WE have a tennis court and the Kiah Fire Brigade also along side this site.  It has power and town water and a view over the river.

The Community has always enjoyed the use of the church ground for community functions and parking and to lose it now would be a further blow to losing both the church and the Hall.

People are always saying it should have been gifted to the community but the Pambula Parish was is not selling it because of the fires they came to the community back in October to advise their financial situation was bleak and they were advised to sell assets by the Canberra Archdiocese to sell assets.

If part of the insurance money could be used to purchase the land  the Kiah community can then really start fund raising.

I will be speaking against the staff recommendation. After over 5 years of discussions between council and user groups it has become quite clear that the site is not large enough to accommodate all the user groups. It would be disgrace to spend 8.5 million and have the rugby league facilities hardly improved with the kiosk facilities well below what they were over 5 years ago when the ceiling was burnt on the old one. I will be asking that if council still prefer option 1 or 2 which is against the wishes of current users that they do the costings and modelling on both before a final decision is made.
