Item 8.3 should be rejected because: • The Minister's power to allow the Planning Proposal to proceed has not been enlivened because the Planning Proposal was not a planning proposal within the meaning of s55(1) of the then EPA Act because it failed to: o Apply environmental and rural zones and associated developments to land based on its ecological significance and primary use; o Set out the criteria which has been used for applying an environmental zone; and o Set out how the presence of ecological attributes has been verified and therefore, the Planning Proposal failed to set out the justification for making amendment to the Bega Valley Local Environmental Plan 2013. |

Mr David Gallan |
Far South Coast Branch of National Parks Association (NSW) Inc. (Authority Received) |
Via Zoom |
Right now, the NSW Government has plans for a massive expansion of commercial activities in Kosciuszko National Park (KNP). The Government wants to add another 4,000 beds to the resorts, build bigger carparks and allow helicopters to fly their clients into the park. The NSW Government claims that KNP is in great condition and has plenty of capacity for further development. The reality is that these reckless plans overturn more than forty years of careful conservation management of KNP. The reason for the plans is clear- to enable an unsustainable expansion of commercial development across the park. |
Mr Myall Stevens was granted a 2 minute extension.
