Statement of Commencement of Live Streaming

The Mayor made an announcement about live streaming requirements noting that:

Public Forums are recorded and live streamed to the Internet for public viewing.

The recording will be archived and made available on Council’s website www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au.

Acknowledgement of Traditional Custodians of Bega Valley Shire

The Mayor commenced by acknowledging, on behalf of Bega Valley Shire Council, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters of the Shire, the people of Yuin nation, to show respect to elders past and present.

To appeal to councillors to approve both shower project and BBQ project for Rocky Hall.

1/ An outline of the situation for the Rocky Hall community post the Black Summer Fires and of the assistance received and offered so far.

2/ How the Rocky Hall Hall is currently run ie who pays for power and who provides water.

3/ An outline of our 2 projects including scale, costs and ongoing management.

4/ An appeal to Council for common sense to prevail and have our projects moved from major to minor.

The intent of the Lions Disaster Relief Projects
Building resilience in communities impacted by natural disasters and how this project will help
The 7.4 kW solar system and 12kWh battery backup  improves the Councils environmental footprint and reduces operating costs
Improves Council Assets enhancing the existing small solar system on the Hall - currently no battery backup
Community Consultation - While our initial proposal in early 2022 stated Council to undertake consultation through their Halls Committee, Lions have since obtained Towamba Community Support
Also answer any questions that may be asked.

Item 10.1 (5.7) – Adoption of the Integrated Planning and Reporting documents

-Renewal of a Council at end of life
-Funding will be sourced by the Lions Club of Pambula-Merimbula
-The project is a masterplan which has 9 elements which can be delivered as funding becomes available
-Creation of a Seniors and Inclusive Exercise Park
-An all abilities Inclusive and Imagination play area
-Specialised inclusive swings
-Hard surface accessible paths in and around the recreation area, BBQ area, toilets, beach access and carpark
-A new wheelchair accessible beach viewing platform following existing paths and viewing areas
-Sensory garden special benefit for people with Autism and mental health challenges
-Replacement of existing public toilets with fully accessible toilets including adult change table
-Interpretative artwork and signage – indigenous, braille, talking etc
-Initial consultation across many interest group and stakeholders has indicated strong support for the project

Item 10.1 (5.11) – Adoption of the Integrated Planning and Reporting documents

On behalf of Old Bega Hospital Reserve Land Manager

1. The reserve is managed by volunteers and not a development
2. The DA is for refurbishment of a community asset not a private development
3. The road does not run past the site, it runs up to the entrance
4. There are three DAs along Corkhill Place 2 are commercial groups and we are a crown lands volunteer group
5. Each DA has a different defined standard for the same road some of which overlap
6. Old Bega Hospital Reserve is a not-for-profit organisation and as such all revenue generated goes back into the management of the reserve

 

Ms Lisa Borthwick was granted a 2 minute extension.

Mr Eric Myers was granted a 2 minute extension.
